2 Problems With This Amazon Brake Bleeder! | Tach On Red
*Complete Beginner's Guide To Bleeding Brakes/ Clutch On Car/ Motorcycle*
You can get cheap handheld brake bleeder pumps off Amazon, Ebay, AliExpress, Walmart, etc. I tested one out for over a year and decided to give you my thoughts on it.
It works, but I would NOT recommend buying this particular one. Instead, there's a better version of it now available online, and I've linked it below.
*IMPORTANT*
When bleeding brakes or clutch lines, only use fluids that are compatible with your vehicle.
DOT 3, 4, and 5.1 are all cross-compatible and can be mixed.
Some European vehicle manufacturers specify LV (low viscosity) versions of the above brake fluid types. This is to ensure correct function of the ABS system.
Using LV brake fluids in other vehicles that don't need it will not cause any problems, as long as the DOT standard is correct.
DOT 5 should not be mixed with other fluid types.
1L is usually sufficient for bleeding all 4 corners on a medium sized family sedan. Grab 2L to be safe. Rather have too much than too little.

      Try using some extension wires to connect the heater controls from your passenger side to the driver side. If you have the same problem with your driver seat, it could be a faulty controller. The seat heater controller is built into the seat. So, replacing the seat might be easiest.

    lol that "nasty" stuff is called "butyl" and it's a common automotive adhesive. On some cars it's used to seal windows. As you've seen it's commonly used in doors as a seal against the water that enters the door. If you want to buy some try 3M Windo-Weld Round Ribbon Sealer, 08610. P.S. It might not surprise you that food grade butyl is used to make bubble gum! Also, that rubbery material around the outside of the speaker that used to be made of foam is now made of ... butyl.

    Nifty! How do you rate the blitz zzr? Would you recommend them and what are the cons? TIA, cheers.

    • @TachOnRed
      @TachOnRed Місяць тому

      I actually wouldn't recommend them. Here in Japan, they're priced the same as Tein Flex-Z. The Tein are far superior in terms of build and ride quality on every car I've driven them on (Used to work at a used car dealership specialising in Japanese sports cars). Here's a list of differences: 1. Blitz ZZ-R made in Taiwan. Same factory that makes coilovers for a bunch of other brands. That's not to say they're the same as other products. The damping rates etc have probably been designed by Blitz and just the manufacturing been contracted to the Taiwanese factory. Tein Flex-Z are manufactured in-house in Yokohama Japan. Their build quality and finish is noticeably better, and they also hold up better against rust long term. Tein's less expensive products are made in China and Taiwan though. But Flex-Z and higher range are made locally. 2. Blitz ZZ-R are monotube shocks and Tein Flex-Z are twin tube. On paper that makes you think the Blitz are better but not necessarily. Well made twintube shocks can perform way better than shit monotube shocks. Lots of bottom of the barrel budget monotube coilover brands you can find on Ebay. In fact, Flex-Z have been used on 24hour endurance race vehicles with no problems. 3. Blitz have 32 step damping adjustment. Tein have only 16. Again, Blitz look better on paper but it doesn't tell us anything about the range of adjustment you get. In my experience across many different cars, the difference from full soft to full hard is broader on the Tein Flex-Z. 4. Tein Flex-Z have better ride quality than the Blitz ZZ-R, even though their spring rates are usually the same for any given vehicle. This probably just shows that Tein have their damping better matched to the springs than Blitz. Also might have to do with the Tein's twintube shock design having more travel than a monotube design. Especially noticeable on an NC miata which already have quite limited shock travel in the rear. Overall, I'd say the Tein Flex-Z is a much better buy. I'd even say they're the best coilovers I've driven on in their price range. 😊👍

      @dennisloh2250 Місяць тому

      @@TachOnRed thanks for the in-depth response and input. Indeed, after some research, it would seem good twin tubes makes a more compliant and comfortable ride which was what I was really after for my back. Looks like I will be regretting cancelling the Cusco Street Zero A order for the ZZRs. The NC and ND have the same issue with the rear. After comparing the NC and ND ZZRs, it appears the version now for the ND has barrel springs for the rear with a very soft spring rate at 2.5kg (Cusco optional lowest at 3kg). Hopefully through their NC experience and feedback; the specifications of the rears now for the ND are catered to addressing the travel and improving the ride quality. The ZZRs are getting installed tomorrow, fingers crossed! Cheers.

    Maybe I missed it but, what seat would be the best seat to get the maximum amount of headroom? Im a tall driver and I BARELY fit in my NB with stock seats. My head grazes the soft top metal bar. So im thinking of selling the car and getting an NC because I hear there is slightly more room inside.

    • @TachOnRed
      @TachOnRed Місяць тому

      You have 3 options if you're looking to maximize headroom. 1. Using Factory NC2 or later seats with JASS Motorsport seat lowering brackets. The NC2 or later type seats (Recaro or not) all have height adjustment. You can put them on the lowest setting, and then if you still need more headroom, get the JASS motorsport lowering brackets. Note that these require welding for installation. I've put 2 links to other videos about the lowering brackets. ua-cam.com/video/0-7C43TCSaA/v-deo.html&pp=ygUZbmMgc2VhdCBsb3dlcmluZyBicmFja2V0cw%3D%3D ua-cam.com/video/0YBB1AgD0Sc/v-deo.html&pp=ygUZbmMgc2VhdCBsb3dlcmluZyBicmFja2V0cw%3D%3D 2. If that's not enough, next option is to go with aftermarket bucket seats with aftermarket low profile sliders such as this: www.sportseats4u.co.uk/product/2-pci-racing-mazda-mx5-mk3-frames-with-black-recaro-pole-position-abe-seats-package/ 3. If you need even more room, aftermarket fixed bucket seat mounts. As the name suggests, they're fixed and don't have sliders to take up space under the seat. This allows you to position seat lower. The seat position is adjustable but requires tools to do so. So it might take some trial and error to get the position right for you. An example would be like this: www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Performance-Part/61-1914.html

You don't necessarily notice this just by looking at it. But the fogging does darken the light beam. People just attribute this to old technology and shrug it off. How this fogging occurs is beyond me, but it is there. It's also easy to wipe clean with a rag, just getting to it inside the headlight is difficult, but doable. Did the headlights on my '95 Ranger when I was stationed in Illinois with the Sylvania kit back in '09. Headlights still looked pretty good when a knucklehead totalled me in '15 in VA. Also did an Impreza in '20 that has been in Colorado whole time and still looks great. Maybe I just got super lucky with the lots but results of those Sylvania kits speak for themselves over time. Well worth the $20 and half hour!

    no disrespect to this channel - but for the price of a "headlamp restoration" kit and all the time needed to do it - just buy a new set of headlamps (most are under $150 per pair) - and before installing - spray them with a coat of "Meguiar's headlight coating". Then every spring and autumn - clean the lamp surface and dry it - cover the area with kitchen plastic wrap - use a blade to cut out the headlamp - and spray the lamp surface two quick coats. Done! And done in 20 minutes to replace the lamps with new and 10 minutes each application thereafter. Trust me - I got 150K on my honda, 100K on my old tercel since replacing thoose old lamps and they are all bright and crystal clear and always parked on the street.

      @TachOnRed Місяць тому

      No disrespect taken at all! Wow $150 for a pair of brand new headlights is unheard of for any car I've worked on. I do crash repairs for a living and we see a LOT of Japanese cars come through here. $300 per side seems to be an average for OEM headlights. They are all newer cars though. 4 years or less. 😊

    It's not the sun so much that damages the headlights, it's the heat from the halogen bulbs.

    • @TachOnRed
      @TachOnRed Місяць тому

      It's odd you say that because if the heat from the bulbs caused it, I'd expect the hazing to occur on the inside of the lens and not the outside as it commonly does. Also, cars that are never driven but simply parked in the sun will get hazy headlights. But cars driven regularly but stored in a garage are less prone to headlight hazing. That too makes me doubt that the heat from the bulbs has much to do with it at all.🤔

  • @Ludak021
    @Ludak021 Місяць тому

    Right of the bat - have them polished and have a protective UV foil attached right after. That is the only correct way to do it. Change the foil when it starts getting yellow tint or gets damaged. Just polishing them isn't going to last and you are going to do it again and again and again and then you will have ruined the headlights. edit: nah, no spray, buy 3M clear UV foil 2mm thickness. It will last you at least 2 years. After that, rip it off, clean the headlight and apply the foil again. Spraying the coating does not protect your headlight from rocks and pebbles, 2mm foil will do that and keep your headlights polished look.

    • @TachOnRed
      @TachOnRed Місяць тому

      Stones and pebbles are the least of my worries for a street driven car. Especially here in Japan where the roads are clean enough to eat off (exaggerating... please don't actually try to eat anything off the roads here). Got mad respect for anyone who has the skill and patience to do a clean film installation. I've tried wrapping other things before - I suck at it! That said, 2K clearcoat can last as long as you own the car if applied as per the instructions in the video description. I've seen it last as long as 7 years on customer cars at work. Never have to reapply or redo anything. It just stays clear and doesn't haze or yellow. You might get microscratches in it from like washing the car - just like you do on the rest of the car. A quick buff whenever you polish or buff the body panels and you're sweet. It's purely a cosmetic thing if you want the whole car looking glossy and shiny. If the microscratches don't bother you, you can just leave it as is.

      @@TachOnRed On good roads, it's less worrisome, however, the cars in front of you will jet the dirt from the road and everything else into your car even in Japan :) As for wrapping the foil on to the headlight, it's not that hard (depending on the headlight), make the shape out of cardboard then use it as a guide. It doesn't need to be perfect, it won't be visible in the end. Cheers! edit: come to think of it, the biggest drawback with 3M foil is that you will most likely have to order the whole roll of it and that might make it more expensive than you would except. But you'll have it for decades or split the cost with a neighbor or something :P
